Description
Balance as a noun is defined as “an even distribution of weight, enabling something to remain upright and steady.” As a verb it is defined, to “keep or put something (or someone) in a steady position so that it does not fall.” Think about this word as it relates to life. A life that is in balance has “an even distribution of weight” with all the things — body, mind and spirit, enabling us to remain “upright and steady”. Does this seem like an impossibility?
In Christ Jesus, all things are possible. As we desire balance in our day-to-day living, we find wisdom and comfort as Paul encourages us to “walk according to the Spirit”. In doing so we actively participate in the Spirits transforming work in our life and balance becomes so much more than showing up knowing and doing all the things that feel like balance, and more like what Richard Rohr describes as a “divine dance” with our good Father.
We have the Spirit to help us! “For to set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Sirit is life and peace”, Romans 8:6, captured here.
